Week 15

 Week 15

During Week 15 I worked on my Designer Square, I choose a fabric with a rainbow gradient and cut it on the bias to get a diagonal stripe. I used my moms cricket to cut my logo out of ink transferring paper, peeled off the negative space from my design and pressed it onto my fabric with an iron.

Week 14

 Week 14

During Week 14 I sewed my third and final garment for this course, a jumpsuit inspired by the third eye made out of organic cotton and hemp denim. I'm really pleased with the fit on my model. The inside is a complete Hong Kong finish that gives this garment a luxourius touch and rolling up the sleeve hems shows off the detail work inside.

Week 13

 Week 13

During Week 13 I made my second prototype to test my patterns one last time and make final adjustments. Then I was able to cut my fabric for the final, an organic cotton and hemp denim.

Week 12

Week 12 - Hazel

During Week 12 I finished by Banner design, adding my finished logo and perfume bottle design. I also created day and night versions so that when printing on the fabric there wouldn't be too much concentrated saturation since it can cause fading or gaps in the print. I printed the night version on paper and the day version on cotton banner fabric. Then I had a fit test with my model for the first prototype of the Ajna Jumpsuit and took notes for my pattern corrections. I decided to lengthen the body, bring in the waist and hips, let out the knee, lower the armhole, make the pant longer with more flare and finally adjust the placement of my princess lines. I made these changes to the original jumpsuit block so that I can rework my patterns over the weekend.

Week 10

 Week 10 - Hazel

During Week 10 I did some finishing touches on the Vishuddha dress. I also worked on sourcing an embroidery service for the patches that will decorate the Ajna jumpsuit. I prepared the files by separating each eye/flower design onto its own artboard and emailed the business I found about my order. Then I started brainstorming the zero waste pattern for the Sahasrara romper.

Week 9

 Week 9 - Hazel

During Week 9 I made my second prototype to confirm that my patterns were ready. After deciding I was happy with the adjustments I made I was ready to start the final garment. First I had to deconstruct the Vintage dress I was repurposing. Once all the pieces of fabric were separated I started deciding where my new pattern pieces could be placed and cut. I was able to fit almost everything except the lining so I decided to use a scrap of bamboo silk leftover from another project. I sewed the final garment together and had a fitting with my model.

Week 7 & 8

 Week 7 & 8 - Hazel

Week 7 was spent sewing my first prototype for the second ensemble of my collection. I decided I wanted to change the collar to stand higher around the neck which also meant repatterining the back neckline where the collar attaches. I also decided to take in the waist with fish eye darts in the back and add 1" of flair to the skirt for just a little more shape in the dresses silhouette.

During Week 8 I corrected my patterns with the changes I made to the design, drafting a new front, back and collar piece. I also patterned my third ensemble, a custom denim jumpsuit with princess lines.
