Inzayne Creations Week 4

 Week 4

This week I finished my ensemble one! I also finished my sustainable project (which I posted about last week) and will use that for ensemble two in my collection!  Above I put together a college of my final ensemble. I ended up doing a double top stitch around the armholes, neck hole, and leg holes to add more visual appeal. I also finished my plaid corset belt that is fully lined! I want to switch out the black lacing for red lacing. I also, for the first time ever, installed an inviable zipper correctly! I included a picture of my in the outfit as well to show off the fact that this outfit looks MUCH better on a person than the form.

I also started my third ensemble which is for the innovative studies class. I went through two mock ups, the first was gathered top with a bubble skirt but I didn't like the way the mock up looked. I landed on the design with the orange highlighter around it. I drafted two circle skirts. The liner skirt is a 1/4 circle skirt and the top layer is a full circle skirt that is 6 inches longer than the liner. I love how the mock up turned out!

Grace Anderson - Week 4

This week, I finished my first ensemble for my capstone collection. It is a knit velvet cloak with a red velvet-lined hood and red velvet-lined bishop sleeves. I also completed my dress made of a men's suit jacket, but I do not think I will be putting it into my capstone collection. I am beginning to think about my second ensemble as well as a project for another class that I hope to use in my capstone.

Grace Anderson - Week 3

This week, I am focused on creating the first and second ensembles of my collection. So far, I have completed the pattern and mockup for my hooded cloak and am working on an asymmetrical dress for a sustainable class that I hope to use in my collection as well. I hope to have both of these completed by the end of the week. I also put up my working board in the classroom and am excited to continue working on my capstone collection.

Reese Westmaas- Week 4

I have been working on reworking a mens suit for my sustainability course. I started off my draping the fabric after I seam ripped it all and sewed together a garment by mindlessly piecing it together. I was extremely unhappy with the outcome and felt embarrassed. I have been working on tearing it apart again and serging each piece then sewing them all together.  I then draped that large piece onto the dress form and have shaped it to be a mini dress. I want the back to have a clasp closure and then make a belt cinch in the waist more. I also will add spaghetti straps.

Reese Westmaas- Week 3

I worked on creating a half mockup of my dress to understand and makeup sure the overlap on the front closure was correct. I also learned I needed to adjust the  width of the armhole. I then cut out my pattern pieces and began putting together the dress. I sewed the lining and facing together first and then sewed the pockets into the front and back pieces. I finished the side and shoulder seams. Then I carefully sewed the lining and fabric together. After I clipped, trimmed, and graded the neckline extensively. Next I sewed the front closure placket down and began hand sewing the magnetic clasps on. I serged on the sleeves and finished them with a rolled hem to stop the crochet from unraveling. Finally I added beaded details in the corner for a fidget. I plan to add fabric bug buttons overtop the magnetic clasp thread on the CF.

Inzayne Creations Week 3

 WEEK 3

This week I made and finished my post consumers goods project. In this project I took apart a large suit that I got from a thrift store and draped it into a "reimagined" ensemble. I made sure to make this garment into a piece that will also work for my collection. This is the first piece to be finished for my collection!

I also have been working on my "ensemble  one" for the capstone course. This ensemble will technically be my second full ensemble. I did some hand beading and embroidery on the jumpsuit top to elevate the design into something much more couture. I also drafted the corset belt that will go over top of the oversized jumpsuit to make a more appealing silhouette. Now I have to finish the belt before this upcoming Tuesday.

Inzayne Creations Week 2

 WEEK 2

This week I started drafting a basic pencil skirt with two darts for the base of my first ensemble. This skirt gets slightly longer in the back to accommodate for the natural curves of the body. This is my first time creating a pattern for someone who is plus sized!

I'm hoping to have the mockup done for the skirt and top by next week. I still have to draft the four asymmetrical layers of gathered material that attach to the skirt. If this pattern doesn't work I might change the design to something that is gathered into an elastic waistline.

Grace Anderson - Week 2

This week I have been working on creating my first ensemble for my collection. My first ensemble will be a velvet hooded cloak with bishop sleeves. I have begun work on my pattern, bought my fabric, and am excited to begin constructing the garment.

Lili Castro Introduction

Hi everyone!

I am excited to finally be able to share my process of my capstone collection. It is a S/S collection and the working name is Peace of Mind. I find it a bit hard to find clothes that are cute and comfortable so my main focus with this collection is to be able to create something that anyone can wear feeling comfortable and stylish at the same time.

Grace Anderson - Week 1

I was very inspired by music for this project, specifically new wave music. Artists and bands such as The Cars, Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, and many others were the largest source of inspiration I found for my garments and I wanted to create a collection that had a similar essence to the genre. I was also very inspired by the silhouettes used by famous designers, especially Thierry Mugler and his couture shows from the 90s.

I plan on using high-quality fabrics as well as couture elements to create a luxurious line reminiscent of high-fashion designers.

I have chosen 4 ensembles to create for this collection and hope to start with the hooded cloak next class period.

Inzayne Creations Week 1

 Week 1

Referring back to last week, everyone in class helped me decide on my first garments and what pre-drawn garments would work best for my Punk Reigns line.

I started working on the pantsuit design on my own time. I was struggling with the sleeves because I felt like they were constricting movement too much, especially since the model who will be wearing this design uses a wheelchair. My class mates decided that I should remove the sleeves and make the look sleeveless because that still feels cohesive with the rest of my collection.

I decided that I will be making the first look on the left, the second look, the fifth look and the seventh look for sure. As for the other looks, I will see if I have the time to complete those.

Later this week I have another model coming in so I can do a fitting for them. This will be my first time designer for a plus sized person. I will be making the fifth look for that model.
