Week 11!

 I officially have 6 looks complete! This week I focused on look 2, sewing a mock-up and patterning. I did a fit test on my model, and adjusted the patterns from there as needed. 

This week I printed off my banner as well, which will hang at the fashion show and by my collection during exhibits.

Thursday was a big day this week, because I had the opportunity to collaborate with a photography student and get my collection photographed for my portfolio! Here are a few behind the scenes photos from that experience.

This week I worked on the design of my collection banner, and did a collaboration photoshoot with a photography student. She took photos of the two ensembles that I have completed so far.

Why hello, 

Things are happening. This week I started assembling Ensemble 3, and updated all of my illustrations based on the adjustments I have made to my collection.

Week 9

 Hello and welcome, 

This week I continued my efforts on Ensemble 3. After some thought I decided to switch up my fabrics for this look. This look was originally going to be all white, however, I wanted to incorporate a rust/pottery color velvet that I have into my collection and I thought that bringing it into this look would be a really nice accent to my collection.  Below is my updated illustration of what I am planning to do for this look. 

Here is my lovely silk velvet and a lining that I found to match. I am very excited to put this together. I

will also be adding some beaded embellishments to this look.

WEEK 8

 Welcome back to my weekly updates! I've gotten a little bit behind, but here I am catching up! This week I finished Ensemble 2 and started my work on Ensemble 3. 

Here is my finished work of Ensemble 2. The top is a sequin mesh with a silk cloud shaped appliqué on the bottom half of the bodice and sleeves. The silk pieces are outlined with gold hand sewn bugle beads. I made an ivory satin skirt and added the chandelier crystal chain as an embellishment.

Here is my progress on Ensemble 3. I created a mock up of my intended design and will make adjustments accordingly.

Week 10!

This week was a very productive one. I now have 5 (almost 6) looks complete! I sewed buttons, button holes, and worked on completing look 3. 

I sewed a blue velvet bucket hat to match look 7 (in progress is a rose one to match look 3).

I cut out the pants for look 6 and patterned the top. I got started on look 2 as well by draping the bodice on the form and cutting out a mock-up to test the fit.

Week 10

 Hello!  This week I had some personal things going on so less work got done than I was hoping. 

 I had another fitting this week!  It was for my custom print dress.  Everything fit so well, I am very excited. But unfortunately I got so excited I forgot to take a picture of it so you will just have to take my word for it.

Also, I finally redid my flats so they look much better now.  Sarah, if you are reading this, I think you will be very proud. 

And I finalized my illustrations and so that I have my final looks for my banner ready to go. 

Next week I will be printing my banner and preparing for my photoshoot with T from the photo program. I had my last meeting with T this week and I am excited about our collaboration! I will make sure to get some behind the scenes pictures from that!

Week 9

 This week I got started on another look and had two fittings!  Only a few final adjustments need to be done and these looks are all ready for out photoshoot coming up.   My models ended up switching looks because they fit the other better. 

I also started to apply the iron on print to my jumpsuit and it did not go as planned... Here are some photos of the process and the failed result.  I will try again and show you the final result!

Week 8

Hi all! Long time no see, unfortunately. Although I’m excited to share some of what you've missed the past few weeks. I've had fittings with six models thus far. In the process I’ve realized I would have to make some adjustments to my design itself not just fit. This allowed me to be more open to changes and realize my designs don't and shouldn’t be so concrete that I don't leave room for improvement. Of course in an illustration it'll look just right but transferring it not just to fabric but to different body types helped me to keep in mind that it won't work for everyone and how or which designs I have that would work best for the individual. I'm happy to have gone through this process because I want my brand to have various sizes. Today I'm having another fitting for the first dress I made. The goal this weekend is to have two joggers modified, two shirts, jumpsuit modified and to find fabric for my tunic dress. It's gonna be a busy weekend but with God’s help and the encouragement from those around me, it can get done. Hoping all goes well and look forward to showing you the final looks not just samples! It's been a long rough journey but it’ll be worth it in the end.

Week 9!

Last week was Spring break, and I worked on getting look 7 complete! 

During Spring break I updated all my illustrations.

This week I worked on sewing looks 4 and 8. I completed look 4 after fixing the bodysuit which can be seen in the photos below. I completed the top for look 8 as well!

I also received measurements for my last two models, so I can start patterns for looks 2 and 6 next week!
