This week I continued work on my second ensemble and a subtraction-cutting project for my sustainable class. I have almost completed my second ensemble and am currently deciding on a closure to finish the look. My subtraction-cutting project was an exciting challenge as it is an experimental form of pattern-making and was definitely out of my comfort league. The project involves sewing fabric together into a tube, cutting out circles, and sewing the layers together to create a draped dress with minimal fabric waste. I was very happy and surprised with how my dress turned out, I found it very challenging to release control of the pattern-making process but found that I was able to create something unique that I would have never come up with using traditional design and pattern-making techniques.
