Week 9!

Last week was Spring break, and I worked on getting look 7 complete!

During Spring break I updated all my illustrations.

This week I worked on sewing looks 4 and 8. I completed look 4 after fixing the bodysuit which can be seen in the photos below. I completed the top for look 8 as well!

I also received measurements for my last two models, so I can start patterns for looks 2 and 6 next week!

FLO - week 10

I made a shared google document for Kat and I to keep information in like mood/syle boards, illustrations of my looks, and model line-ups.  Everything is almost ready for the studio photoshoot on March 25th with Kat, I am working on getting the 'Frolic' look put together for the on location shoot on March 28th.  Continuing construction of my 6 looks, working on logistics for upcoming photoshoots with Kat and printing my design banner.

Week 8

Eek!  Exciting update this week...my custom fabric finally came!  I am so happy with the way it turned out!  Here are some pictures so you can all geek out with me.

My goal for next week is to finish at least two (maybe even three) looks so that I am ready with all six by the time our photoshoot comes around!

Week 7

 Hey lovelies,

This week I learned how grade patterns. It took me a whole week, but they are finally done!  Grading is one of those things that it so complicated to learn yet so easy once you finally get it.  With some help (actually a ton) from Riley and Connie Amaden-Crawford, I got it figured out and graded the jumpsuit pants pattern from a size eight to a size twenty.  I am really excited to see how the final garment looks once I get it cut out in my final fabric!

Week 8!

This week I worked on patterning the pants for look 3, and cut out the fabric.

I also cut out all the pieces for look 7. Next week, I will focus on sewing everything together!

Week 8 - FLO

 Hi again!

This week I focused on the final construction of the look I’m calling; ‘Empower’ or ‘Potenziare’ in Italiano.  I decided to give all of my looks names to keep track of them as I am sewing but also while I am documenting the creation on this blog.  I will be translating the names into Italian to tie in my family history and culture.  I am learning Italian in my free time because I want to visit Sicily and Italy, to experience the culture and see if I have any extended family there.  Since the name of my collection is an abbreviation of my last name, and my family have always been my biggest supporters, it seemed fitting to pay homage to the language that my grandparents spoke.

Next week I am having final fittings on my models to ensure the fit of the garments, I am working on recruiting more models currently, two of mine dropped out.  The person I had planned to collaborate with, was supposed to style the hair for the show and they can no longer participate, so I am ready to take on the hair and makeup on my own, but the show must go on.

In other news, the pants are well on their way to completion, the inner layer side seams and French seamed pockets are in and ready to be attached to the organza layer.  The top is cut out and interfaced, all that is left to do is for me to sit down and marathon sew it all together!

Thanks for tuning in this week!
