VIER Week 2

On Wednesday 1/14, I finalized my sketches for my Capstone collection. This includes slightly altering one design to look more dramatic and runway ready (seen above). The difference between this dress and my original design is the exaggerated skirt silhouette and the layers of different colored tulle underneath the main pink layer- otherwise this design did not alter.

Then after fixing my sketches and solidifying my color scheme, I went to the fabric store and gathered samples to show in person and match up with my designs. I even bought some yardage of fabrics I'm certain I will use in my Capstone. I found when planning fabrics for my designs I had to get multiple different types of fabrics (ect. Tulle, vinyl, wovens, knits) in almost every color. Although not all of the colors are the same in their different fabrics, they are pretty close and I think will work overall in my collection.

After I got home, I started to get ahead on the makeup looks for my collection. This is something I actually had a lot of fun with and am happy with how it turned out. My next step is to create a template for hairstyles and work on getting that completed.

Plot Twist! I redid my entire collection after the first collection critique on 1/15. I realized in class that my collection was getting too costume-y and it just didn’t make a lot of sense. So, I pivoted and restarted by doing some research. I landed on combining 1950’s silhouettes and undergarments with dog inspired forms and details. I also altered the color palette slightly with more muted colors which I am very happy with.
