This week I worked on more patterns, and sewed the mock-up for look 7.
I also did a fit test on my model (seen above). I then finished the skirt for look 4!

Hello again,
Over this week I continued on with ensemble 2 and 3 and also put together some inspiration for how I would like my collection to be photographed.
Hello!
Week 7 was spent patterning and sewing the mock ups for the bubble pants and asymmetrical top. I created the pants one leg at a time so I could adjust the pattern to my liking after fitting the first pant leg. Which proved to be an efficient and time saving process, to make the outer layer, I seamed together scraps of netting I found in the fabric cabinet. I utilized the woven pant pattern I made in construction 1, taking out some of the width in the lower calf and ankle to shape the leg, so it will look like my design. Lots of trial and error were expected but I was pleasantly surprised at my ability to accurately draft and tend to fit issues. It’s always nice to witness your own improvement, I have learned so much during the past 3-4 years. I am capable of constructing what I design and illustrate, bringing my vision to life, there is truly nothing like it.
Why hello there,
This week I spent time patterning and working on ensemble 2. I made a stencil of the cloud shape that I wanted to make an appliqué out of and then cut it out of the fabric. I hand sewed it on to the front and back bodice panels and the sleeve panels. I also started working on my skirt design.
Hello hello,
This week was a little more low-key so I don't have many updates for you. I met with my next model on Tuesday to get some measurements so that I can get my next toile done. That is due on Tuesday of next week.
I ordered my custom fabric from Spoonflower and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival! They estimated that it should ship by sometime late next week so hopefully I will have it before spring break. I will keep you updated with that.
I changed the color in my print from the original to match my color palette a little better. The flowers were originally blue but I decided to go with a green instead. I wanted a deeper color to ground my collection since everything was so light.
It’s been a while since I’ve updated you all. A couple of weeks ago I was under the weather and it threw me off my game big time. Being behind is already stressful. But having to start from scratch, with limited materials and time makes it even harder. I may be behind but it’s not keeping me from progress. Exhaustion is creeping up on me but I’m reminding myself of what progress I have made and the results I’m striving for. I’m by far no expert on fashion or life. The struggle is real and if you are one of them just know you’re not alone and don’t stop, you’ll be glad you didn’t in the end.
Thus far I’ve gotten all my technical flats created, 4/8 Order of Operation instructions drafted, and three in-progress samples. This is nowhere near where I’d like to be but sometimes you have to acknowledge what is done to plan accordingly to meet goals.
Creating the order of operations takes a lot of time and thought processes. I’m very hands-on and visual so as I type the instructions I also stretch out small diagrams to map out the pieces. It’s one thing to do the instructions but it’s another thing to verbalize what you are doing. It’s very tidiest but it is helpful to reference as I make my samples. It pushes me to think about the practicalities and functions of the illustrations of a garment.
I am excited to present to you the materials I will be using for my final garments. I was able to find a braided yarn that matches the color and aesthetic just right. This will definitely save me time from crocheting the trim and armholes. I also received my ribbed knit for the turtleneck but the color I’m not so sure about it and may order another color to compare.
My goal is to have 3-4 completed ensemble samples by Thursday. I keep pushing it but there’s no choice but to. Praying I to successfully present these to you next time.
Until then remember there’s,
Always room to grow!
Love,
HumbleBeginnings
Hello!
This week I started patterning and cutting out the mock up for what I am calling the "bubble pants look". I'm planned to make a fitted pair of woven pants to act as a base for the gathered, organza panels which will be shirred and stitched down, while the legs are flat, before the inseam and crotch seams are put in.
Thanks for tuning in this week! Enjoy the process below.

This week I completed the shirt for look number 5, and almost completed the shirt for look 8 (I just need to add sleeves!).
I patterned and cut out the bodysuit and skirt for look 4 ( lace will be added to the skirt).
I patterned look 7, and cut out the pieces to make a mock-up.
I also played around with layering, and changing some looks to better fit my brand.
