WEEK 2

Welcome, welcome,

This week I took the time to reinvent my collection into something that truly shapes who I am.  As a person and as a designer, it is my goal to share the light of Jesus Christ to the world. This collection is my representation of an encapsulation of the light, glory, and beauty of Christ. The Light of the World.

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" John 8:12

Here is my concept collage. I took inspiration from an array of different things. Because Jesus entered humanity as a Jew and the Bible was first written in Hebrew, I knew that I wanted to incorporate scriptures from the Hebrew Bible into my designs. Furthermore, when pondering the light and glory of Jesus, I thought of beautiful crystal chandeliers and how the crystals magnify the light. Like big, golden clouds with rays of light casting through. Reaching out, like Jesus reaches out to us with love. I incorporated imagery of leaded window panes, a simplified version of the ornate windows found in old churches and temples. I also added imagery of doves as they are a symbol of the Holy Spirit.

For my garments, I am creating long, simple silhouettes with a high focus on fabric ornamentation. Hand painting, hand beading, and surface embellishments.

Here is my styling inspiration for my collection. Crystal head coverings, dove feather cuffs, natural  makeup with hints of crystal accents and bright liner.

Until next time,

Salina
